For those of you who can’t sleep at night unless you know the absolute latest on these PG&E projects…

In all seriousness, the developments below will have impacts on commuters on Arastradero and Foothill, patients/employees at the VA Hospital, employees at the area businesses, students at Gunn and local temple/church congregants…so please read on:

  1. PG&E’s contractor (US Pipeline) will begin daytime work on the Palo Alto portion of the pipeline this Saturday (9/29).  They will begin at the far east end of the VA Hospital property and proceed in 300 foot segments west towards Hillview. (side closest to Gunn)  This means Miranda will have one lane closed and two-way traffic will be allowed but via “alternating turns” and so there will be a back-up.  Gunn families should absolutely avoid using the Miranda area as a drop-off.  VA Hospital patients and visitors should leave extra time before appointments.
  2. Night work (west of Hillview to Page Mill) was originally planned to begin after the day work was done, but may start sooner; we are waiting for confirmation from PG&E on that point.  This night work should allow for ready access to the sports clubs on Miranda during the day and so shouldn’t be cause much inconvenience.
  3. Day work on Junipero Serra Blvd on the Stanford side of Page Mill Road continues and so expect back-ups on the Foothill Expressway between 9am and 4pm.
  4. For the Charleston Road project, the tie-in date for that pipeline has been postponed to October 8th. (PG&E has to coordinate the tie-ins of all their northern California projects and so the tie-in date often has to shift.) That means the remaining barriers there must remain until that date.  The good news is that all other construction and inspection work at that location has been completed, so there will be no crews, trucks or activity there until the day of the tie-in.

Our website remains your best place to check for the most up-to-the-minute info on these projects:
