At a meeting in the Community Room of Juana Briones School on June 12th, Jaime Rodriguez, Chief Transportation Officer for the City of Palo Alto, presented the latest statistics and results from the Arastradero Charleston Traffic Project.  According to the Palo Alto Weekly

“One of residents’ greatest concerns, that the road changes would cause increased cut-through traffic through neighborhoods, seems in large part not to have occurred, Rodriguez said. During the morning commute, cut-through traffic numbers remained relatively steady — with the exception of along Maybell Avenue.” Continue reading »

Just a friendly reminder that mosquitos are laying their eggs in standing water now, and have been doing so since February.  The eggs hatch into tiny larvae which look like small squirmy worms about the width of a thick hair.

With the recent rain there may be water in various containers around your yard. Please dump any standing water in buckets, etc., and treat your ponds and pools.  Please look online for various methods — chlorine, a thin layer of oil, etc.  City water containing chloramine isn’t enough.  Fish can’t live in it, but apparently mosquito larvae can. We may be in for a little more rain, so please be diligent.

A contractor for the City of Palo Alto Utilities is currently installing a new 2″ gas main on Maybell Avenue. THIS WILL INCLUDE A CONNECTION TO THE GAS LINE SERVING THAIN WAY. For the present a connecting lateral line will be installed crossing Maybell up to the stop signb on Thain Way. The access pit will be covered by a steel plate.

At a later date the City of Palo Alto will connect the lateral to the EXISTING gas line on Thain Way. No installation of a new line on Thain Way is anticipated. We will be notified of the dates for this connection and whether or not it will be necessary to shut off gas service to complete the work.

NOTE: If it is necessary to shut off the gas service to complete the connection, then the Utilities Dept. will need to have access to your units to relight any pilot lights (furnace, hot water heater, etc) as needed. There is no need to take any further action at this time.

If you have a contractor or serviceman working in your unit, please remind them not to park their vehicles where they block access to the garages or parking spaces.  They may park either in your assigned space or on Thain Way.
